New freedom....new god/s?
by whitman ini'm curious as to how far everyone has explored their new found freedom having left the borg.. has anyone been interested in, or interested in becoming, or just vaguely interested in the following - the raelians (they do have good geometry), any ufo cult, rastafarianism, amish, trekkies, the john frum movement, the discordians, buddhists, hindu, scientologist or any other that isn't listed here?

It might be even more helpful to not go to the conventions at all. In fact, you should run for your life away from anything to do with JWs.

The Friends Ain't So Friendly
by StAnn ini've been thinking.
a lot of posts i read here say things about how the jws are all victims; how people feel so sorry for them; how people believe that the jws they know are really good people who are trapped in a lie.
then i read a lot of other posts about the cruel things the jws do, like shunning, ignoring df'd people on the side of the road with a flat tire, refusing to be charitable to their fellow humans, delighting at the impending deaths of millions of people, and blaming all of their coldness and heartlessness on the fact that they're just following orders from the gb.

The WTS sucks the life and the good and the humanity out of you. You're left an empty, emotionless shell.

Scarred for life
I have an open mind about it but I've never seen one. I'm not afraid of demons anymore. I seem to have gotten over that fear that was instilled in me.

I definitely want to come to the next apostafest. I'll bring my sister with me. You mean you can get over this JW thing? I haven't been a part of it in 36 years but I don't feel like I'm over it. I need all of you people. And I need an apostafest.

pool party
by Mysterious inthis weekend i went to a pool party at the house of a girl i know from work.
there were probably close to 30 people there and i only knew about 4 of them, plus they were all about 3-6 years younger than me and mostly in high school but i had an absolute blast.
it really was all that i wish high school could have been but wasn't because i was a jw.

Mysterious, I hear you loud and clear. I haven't been a part of JW in 36 years but it sounds like not much has changed. I understand everything you were feeling. I'm glad you went to that party and I'm very glad you had a good time. Keep going and keep living. You can find a normal happy life.

Oh my God! Oh my God! All of you people are bringing back such memories! Yes, the EarthQuake! AAAAAARGH! I mean I was probably 2 or 3 years old. And I was so afraid and did not want this to happen to me or my family. I just found this forum. I have needed this for SOOO LONG.
To the opening poster. I hope you found the book if you need it for some reason but I just have to tell you that my mother just died on May 14 and when we cleaned out her very full attic we found boxes and boxes of old JW books. I'm sure Paradise Lost/Paradise regained was in there. Probably at least 2 copies maybe more. But we called for Special Trash Pickup and they are gone to the landfill, baby. But if I had known that anybody wanted them I would have GIVEN them to you. I might even have payed for the postage or delivered them to you myself, high gas prices or not. It was such a great feeling to see those books being hauled away.

I haven't seen one of these horrendous and frightening dramas since probably 1972. But it sounds like they have only gotten worse. I don't know whether to watch it on YouTube or not. I just found this forum and this is my first post. I have needed this for at least 36 years. Let the healing begin. Thank you all for being here.
